Today, astronaut Christina Koch returned to Earth after spending 328 consecutive days in space. The record-breaking trip was the longest ever by a female astronaut, and only second in history to Scott Kelley, who spent 340 days in space. Watch her historic landing in Kazakhstan via NASA.

1 Million

Now that Brexit has happened, more than one million EU citizens have applied to remain in the United Kingdom. These are individuals who already live in the U.K. and are requesting to maintain permanent residency. The deadline for applications is the end of June 2021. The Evening Standard reports that about 9 out 10 London applicants have been approved.

50 Residents

Pope Francis has ordered for a Vatican palace to be converted into a homeless shelter. The Palazzo Migliori was originally supposed be turned into a luxury hotel. Instead, 50 people requiring assistance have moved into 16 bedrooms located within the 19th century palace. Get more details here.

Despite coronavirus fears, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is still scheduled to take place in Barcelona from February 24-27. Two global tech companies, LG Electronics and ZTE (a Chinese smartphone maker) have pulled out of the conference. The MWC is the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry. Similar to CES, the MWC holds considerable influence over the release and distribution of mobile products and software.
