The Daily Data sums up the numbers making headlines.
Here are the figures for Friday, January 31, 2020.

3 Million

Over 3 million people (and counting) have signed a petition asking the NBA to permanently change its logo to a silhouette of the late Kobe Bryant. Currently, the logo is inspired by Jerry West, a Lakers legend who was a close mentor to Bryant. In the past, West has publicly been open to the idea of updating the logo. And now, Newsweek is reporting that the designer of the original logo would be willing to change it to honor Kobe Bryant. View the petition here.

6 Countries

The U.S. government has expanded its travel ban program, adding 6 countries to the list. Specifically, citizens from Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar will be blocked from immigrating to the United States. Individuals from these countries are still allowed to visit as tourists. Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf stated, “these countries, for the most part, want to be helpful but for a variety of different reasons simply failed to meet those minimum requirements that we laid out.” Learn more.
