Warner Music Group (WMG) has finalized its full acquisition of Africori, a leading African music distribution, rights management, and artist development company. This move underscores WMG’s commitment to amplifying African music on the global stage.
Founded in 2009, Africori represents over 7,000 artists across the continent, including Kelvin Momo, Master KG, and Nkosazana Daughter. WMG’s initial investment in Africori began in 2020, leading to a majority stake acquisition in 2022, and culminating in complete ownership this year. Africori will continue to operate as a standalone entity, with CEO Yoel Kenan reporting to Temi Adeniji, Managing Director of Warner Music Africa.
This acquisition aligns with WMG’s strategy to expand its presence in Africa, following collaborations with Chocolate City, WCB-Wasafi, Coleske, and Ziiki Media. As of now, Warner Music Group (WMG) has not publicly disclosed the financial terms of its acquisition.
