Recall: Infla-650 Herbal Dietary Supplements

Reason:

The Food and Drug Safety Administration has issued a safety warning for individuals who’ve used Infla-650 Herbal Dietary Supplements. Made by GURU Inc., the product contained unlisted ingredients: acetaminophen, diclofenac and phenylbutazone. The FDA considers Infla-650 capsules a “serious threat.” Using the dietary supplements can result in an unintentional overdose leading to liver damage or death. Infla-650 supplements can also cause increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

The phenylbutazone found in the capsules was already banned for human use in the 1980s. According to the FDA, use of phenylbutazone can cause bone marrow toxicity. Those with an inconsistent red/white blood cell count or anemia issues may be at a greater risk of experiencing severe, threatening injury. GURU Inc. has issued a voluntary recall, warning customers and distributors nationwide (via email). The Georgia-based company marketed Infla-650 Herbal Dietary Supplements as a way to provide pain relief and reduce inflammation.
