Reason:
A global computer outage has occurred, impact major systems using Microsoft IT software. Airlines and airports, businesses, transportation networks, broadcasting/media companies, and healthcare services have been impacted. Cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike (a Microsoft IT partner) is responsible for the software defect. An error occurred when the company made an update to its antivirus software. CrowdStrike has confirmed that the outage is not a hack or a cyberattack. Over 4,200 flights have been cancelled worldwide. The London Stock Exchange, Sky News, Alaska’s 911 service, the National Health Service (UK), and Australian telecommunications giant, Telstra Group are just a few of the many entities that have experienced outages. Train services like ThamesLink (UK) and Cincinnati Metro in the U.S. have also been disrupted.
